Observers begin at dusk, when the cliffs hold the day's warmth and salt fog softens the horizon. A reliable sighting is marked by three quick movements: a pause beneath a fern, a bright tail flick, and a short climb toward the nearest dry seam. Notes should include wind direction, stone temperature, and the colour of nearby lichen. Torchlight is discouraged because it washes out the faint copper sheen used to distinguish adults from juveniles.

The archive recommends returning to the same ledge on three consecutive evenings. Tracks are sketched rather than collected, and loose scales are left in place. Each accepted entry in the Copperwisp Gecko Almanac records the first appearance, last confirmed movement, and any unusual response to cloud cover.
